Mamluk Bow

The Mamluks, originally known as "mamlūk" (singular) or "mamālīk" (plural) in Arabic, were individuals who began their lives as slaves, with the term itself stemming from the Arabic word for "one who is owned" or a "captive slave." However, these specific slaves had a unique and prominent role in society. They were primarily trained as warrior slaves and were destined for military service. Remarkably, a significant proportion of the armed forces in the Islamic world, spanning from the 9th to the 19th century, was comprised of such slave soldiers.

The weaponry utilized by the Mamluks in historical contexts included bows, among other arms, reflecting their crucial role in military affairs. These bows were instrumental in shaping the legacy of the Mamluks as formidable fighters throughout history.

Heavy duty material and construction make this bow have excellent durability. This Horsebow is effective to use for ground, hunting, and horseback archery range. Everything is handmade by our master bowyers finished elegantly with goat skin and the siyahs (tips) are reinforced with horn, also has rayskin on the arrow pass.
